      @adiwan They do exist! Early on in the anime it's implied that animals went extinct because of Pokemon.

        @mrmattimation They went extinct because the Pokemon franchise must go on and offer new creatures. It'd be odd if normal dogs would encounter an arcanine for example. Also they'd have no chance of survival.
