  1. I’m in front of the Virginia Capitol, where the final ratification needed to make a US Consitutuinal amendment law MIGHT be passing later in the week? It’s pretty weird when history happens in your backyard.

    1. @mrmattimation I say “might” because although the state Senate voted to ratify 26-14 (to overwhelming cheers in the gallery), the House is 51-48 in the GOP’s favor and the Republican speaker is saying he’s just not gonna hold a vote. Through simple vote counting it’s pretty easy to deduce that they would have enough votes to pass it if the speaker would just bring the vote to the floor.

      1. @scribus Nah, equal rights amendment. (Removes distinctions between men and women in law, divorce, etc.) In theory I assumed it’d have bipartisan support because no distinctions means no “unfair” laws biased against men in, say, child support decisions. In practice, it’s a different story, I guess.
