  1. Hmm, one of these buttons of this remote control has started to come loose. I already did check and I can buy a new RC for 50 Euro's.

But do I get it for the sake of my TV ? Or do I just install that android app and be done with it. Leaving my RC in a drawer somewhere for when I really need it ( which is not that often to begin with anyway )

    1. @drinkingpony Repair it. Open it and look what's misaligned. When you are at it you can clean the metal contacts.

      1. @adiwan It's rubbery, it goes on top like a mat, it contains little black 'feet' that make the connection on the PCB happen.

That mat thing is damaged and causes the 'button' to sometimes misallign, or worse, causes the button to run away and I have to go clean my room to find it.

        1. @drinkingpony Well... You could solder tactile switches on the remote control PCB as a last resort. Or buy a cheap universal remote, or make a remote on your own by buying a micro-controller, an IR sensor, an IR LED, and record the IR signals of the original remote and replay them with your own contraption. Or get a Wii U and use its tablet controller to switch channels and such...

        2. @drinkingpony Or use the micro controller idea in a different way: make the micro controller translate the signal of a different remote control that the TV recognizes like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yyy7h7qh80

          1. @adiwan Ohh, I really like that.

But ehh, I am about 90% convinced that there is no IR on this here RC.

I'mma check that the next time my camera is charged. ( since the equine eye can not see the infrared, but camera's can. )
