  1. The feeling when you solder pins to a LED ring and then it falls down to the ground in such a way that the pins rip out the solder pads rendering the LED ring useless.

    1. @adiwan Pictures ? I mean I just ripped some pads on a very cheap chinese PCB ( copper pad ) and decided to throw it in the bin of 'lost souls'

      1. @drinkingpony Thi is Not salvageable with my skills. The pads go straight into vias to the other side and there it is all covered with WS2812 LEDs. 3€ down the drain. Not worth my time to repair that. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/874616

        1. @adiwan I think I would get my dremel out and my multimeter and then...

Wait, what, 3 Euro's ? That is not even worth the price of the demel head you will probably murder with such a move.

          1. @drinkingpony 3.15€ to be exact! I have already ordered a replacement. It just takes some time from China. I also ordered a few other parts like a PIR motion detector. I plan to do something when someone enters my office. Like warn me or greet the entering person. I don't know yet.

            1. @adiwan By Celestia's beard ! Those 15 cents change everything.

              Nah...

Ehmm well I guess I am thinking of something like http://rainbowdash.net/url/874626 but motion-triggered myself.

Also when something enters the room have a robot voice do "Scanning for intelligence in lifeform... Error... Subject out of expected parameters," or something

              1. @drinkingpony I had something low-key in mind. I received recently a EPS-32 micro controller with a camera attached. I was just thinking of using this to send a very low FPS video stream to a second micro controller with a screen attached whenever the PIR sensor is triggered. I'm sitting in a corner in the office that is pretty much out of sight of the door and I'm sitting with my back to the door. I could use a mirror but that'd be boring.

                1. @adiwan I wonder if the EPS-32 has enough juice to run an imagemagic subroutine. You could wait till the PIR is triggered ( or not ) make a sequence of pictures, compare them with eachother using imagemagic, and send it away though e-mail or something.

                  1. @drinkingpony Compare them to see if they are the same ofcourse. No I do not know how to do that, I know you can though. The moment I figured it out myself I can do the thing I wanna do with my RPI

                  2. @drinkingpony It's certainly capable of streaming pictures. It can be clocked to 240MHz with no problem.
