      1. @toksyuryel These threads enrage me because they contribute to the incredibly flawed belief that depression is a disorder you can just "get over". It cheapens what is functionally a serious illness by eroding the support base people have access to.

        1. @ceruleanspark I will acknowledge that I haven't read the actual thread, only the OP, so maybe I'm just not seeing what you're seeing. I try to limit my exposure to reddit as much as possible.

          1. @toksyuryel It's just a generalised trend. Some of the people who've read that thread will take from it the idea that depression can be spontaneously "cured". I'd be just as enraged if some idiot was posting "Vitamin pills cured my cancer", because it spreads misinformation.

            1. @ceruleanspark The thing I'm missing by not reading the thread is that the OP does not even mention depression at all.

              1. @toksyuryel The title of the thread directly insinuates that MLP is keeping him from commiting suicide.

                1. @ceruleanspark Clinical depression is not the only thing which can lead to such thoughts.

              2. @toksyuryel @ceruleanspark Dear Princess Celestia, today I learnt CHIN UP. I feel more alienated than ever. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.

              3. @toksyuryel Later in the thread he posts "I don't think I will ever need to feel bad again, all I need is a episode and I'm Good..." which suggests that he is in fact, referring to feelings of depression, rather than, for instance, aiming to end his life to escape some form of abuse.

                1. @ceruleanspark I'm inclined to disagree but since I'm not willing to actually read through the thread I should probably just stop trying to discuss it.
