  1. I haven't eaten an "Amerikaner" for a long time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_white_cookie Here it's mostly sold with only white glazing.

    1. @adiwan Is it a chocolate cookie, halfway dipped?

      1. @scribus The kind I know is a spongy cake in the shape of a disc with a round bottom and a flat top side of about 2 cm - 2.5 cm of thickness and the top side is covered with a sugar glazing with some hints of lemon.

        1. @adiwan I've only really had them a couple times, but I think the wiki is different than what I recollect, is why I ask. And general curiosity about all baked treats, heheh.

          1. @scribus This is a pretty good representation of how they look like https://www.oma-kocht.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/amerikaner-backen-rezept-hirschhornsalz-e1571326776705.jpg

            1. @adiwan Well, I think that marks a third take on this one thing, haha. All look pretty darn tasty.

              1. @scribus In Germany most bakeries offer them, besides other baked sweets like pudding filled puff pastry and "sugar cake" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterkuchen ) and "bee sting cake" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bienenstich ) and crumb cake ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streuselkuchen ).

                1. @adiwan Dang those all look amazing, but I need to work on my pumpkin cookie recipe first!

                  1. @scribus I'm not a pumpkin guy but I imagine a simple chunky butter wheat cookie covered with a sugar glazing and small caramelized pumpkin chunks.

                    1. @adiwan I'm actually using a basic sugar cookie, plus some gourd puree and relevant spices, a little maple syrup. So far, so good. Last time I was out of cinnamon so they were a bit more like ginger snaps than pie, like I'd hoped, but the texture was great and they worked even without the cinnamon. May cut down the cloves, though...

                    2. @adiwan But now I have two ideas...
