  1. I think "true" wireless earbuds are a scam with some extra steps. They are expensive, their batteries cannot (easily) be replaced, and they are easily lost, and need a bulky case to charge the earbuds that also adds its failure points and inconveniences to the mix (easy to be lost, battery replacement, hinge, contacts for charging...). A cable isn't perfect either but there are some models with replaceable cables, that don't make it all unusable once it eventually breaks. Tangling of the cable is annoying but it is the less bad than all the wireless earbuds will inflict once they start to misbehave or become obsolete. 3.5mm audio jacks are so "dumb" and simple that it's hard for them to fail.

    1. @adiwan I got 2 cheap pairs of Apple knockoffs, one of them the case's charge button just broke and fell into the case so they can't charge unless I use the other pair's case. Also, I just have the worst luck with Bluetooth, anyway.

      1. @scribus Oof. I guess opening the case in order to repair it will probably result in a catastrophy.

        1. @adiwan I managed to pull it out OK, but it's just too tiny, fragile, and fiddly for my soldering skillz

    2. @adiwan And I mean, music is still using the basically-identical 1/4" version of the same damn plug. It's dependable! And wheels are still not triangular! lol

      1. @scribus Yeah. I'm just imagining how a phone/portable musik player with XLR plugs would look like.
