  1. The stylistic influence that Edd Gould’s animation had on my work is obvious. Although I’ve tried, in recent years, to downplay it, I think it’s impossible to really deny just how influential Eddsworld was to me. I wonder a lot if what I’m doing meets the standard that his work sets. Am I using that influence to carry on his legacy? Or am I doing him a disservice, like robbing his grave and stripping him of what made him so highly regarded in an attempt to further my own career? Am I a representative of the generation he inspired, a piece of the future, or am I merely a phony, a copycat who clings to the past? These thoughts go through my head a lot. I still wish he’d been around to see it. His death inspired me to take animation seriously as an art form, but the truth is that I’d trade that all away, because I don’t think my presence in this game comes anywhere close to making up for what was lost ten years ago.

    1. @zeldatra I mean, like, EVERY puppet* is a Henson-style hand-and-rod all-but Muppet these days, you know? Influence is just one of those things. Some algorithm online keeps telling me I write almost exactly like Stephen King, and I barely read any of his work! I uh... don't know if I got a POINT to that tangent, but. . . .
