         @redenchilada I'm still looking for a good Android music player which doesn't do that. JUST PLAYER and Vanilla Player seem to have the same issue. If I have a cover.jpg file in the same directory as the song, why not use it? =/

            @omni I feel cover art just takes up screen space anyway. I've got Vanilla Player set to disable cover art and that satisfies me.

                  @omni I don't usually keep the play screen up, and that's the only place where there could be any unused space to speak of.

               @fortecadenza I personally didn't like DoubleTwist Player much when I tried it, and I think it needs too many permissions. Still, thanks for the tip!
