  1. PART 2/2 So, pro-TWE's are crying out and claiming abuse of power, "everyone's being punished for the actions of a few," etc. Essentially many anti-TWE's will post positive comments towards the decision, then pro-TWE's lash out at them for it. pro-TWE's have called people stupid sheep amongst several other hurtful names, and have insulted everyone and their everything if they claimed anything bad or flawed about TWE. At the end of the day, from how I see it, both sides are making themselves look dumb with all the petty insults. But the worst thing? People supporting TWE because there are pedo-fics on FF, and the ppl that bring this up all say "this move was stupid because you should be focusing on this problem instead!" So their last line of defense is "these other guys are breaking rules too, and your attempt to enforce any other website policy means you approve of THOSE actions."

    1. @pony I still don't get it. They deleted a group because they criticized fics and deleted foalcon fics because people are oversensitive?

      1. @abigpony it seems that the flankhurt are pointing to pedo fics sort of as a distraction from the hate comments of that group. I don't know whether any fics have been deleted, but I doubt they will be.

        1. @pony to be clear, to my awareness not everyone mentioning foalcon as a problem on that thread was doing it on purpose to redirect. Some mentioning it actually had valid concerns about ff's moderation priorities.

          1. @crusader8 fair enough.

        2. @pony I've heard rumors of them blocking the foalcon stories practically since they were opened. I don't really know and I don't really tell. I think it's stupid that they got rid of that group, though.

          1. @abigpony I think I'm biased because I like the drama, but what crusader said is the main reason I see it being a good move.. bullying and such

      2. @abigpony foalcon was only brought up because of responses like "wait, ff deleted TWE? What about all the pedofics? Why arent those users getting banned and their fics deleted?" But then *some* people were taking that to "TWE shouldnt be banned because foalcon exists"

        1. @crusader8 Alright, I guess that's... good?

          1. @abigpony to clarify the other bits, TWE as a group nurtured a heck of a lot of cyber-bullying, then (intentionally or unintentionally) turned comment threads in fics into attention-drawing bash fest. Kind of like when an irl-bully bullies a kid in front of classmates or peers, sometimes the attention and reactions from the crowd can be worse than the bully's act itself. So when a TWE guy posts a huge author-bashing "critique" on a fic's comment thread, then bored readers see a bad fic getting lots of page views and check it out, and thus the chiming in and other negative pileup ensues.

            1. @crusader8 Oh boy, just like the rest of the internet. If you can't stand the comments, grow the hell up and deal with it.

    2. @thatonestocking It's a silly term but in the end it's important to stamp it out. Unlike irl bullying in which people can be directly confronted, people online can be attacked by anyone, anywhere, anytime, and "cyber-bullies" can safely attack as anonymous ppl and disappear just as quick. It's actually pretty scary.

    3. @thatonestocking I can't really add more unless I can find a way to effectively explain how verbal bullying is just as damaging to a person, how there will always be people who can't shrug these sorts of things off, and how the inability to shrug off intentional verbal attacks doesn't excuse said attacks.
