@abigpony to clarify the other bits, TWE as a group nurtured a heck of a lot of cyber-bullying, then (intentionally or unintentionally) turned comment threads in fics into attention-drawing bash fest. Kind of like when an irl-bully bullies a kid in front of classmates or peers, sometimes the attention and reactions from the crowd can be worse than the bully's act itself. So when a TWE guy posts a huge author-bashing "critique" on a fic's comment thread, then bored readers see a bad fic getting lots of page views and check it out, and thus the chiming in and other negative pileup ensues.
