  1. Hi guys.

    1. @nerthos does the term guys include females? My information on that is not consistent.

      1. @kamikaze Depends on the context, but most of the time (like right now): Yes.

      2. @kamikaze When referring to a group consistant of both males and females, the correct way to adress it is as a male group, because there's no gender-neutral words for it. If the explanation is confusing, it's due to my english not being good enough in some areas yet.

        1. @nerthos Pony, please, your English is way better than that of the average American.

          1. @omni Yet it's not perfect, and I have only year and a half of real experience in it's use. It could be way better.

            1. @nerthos 1 and a half year is a lot! I spent 3 weeks hiking in GB with a couple of friends. The majority of my English vocabulary is from fantasy books.

              1. @kamikaze I mostly learned from games and fantasy books. I can't fluently speak, though. My experience is moslty from being on this site.

                1. @nerthos my speech isn't quite fluent either. Mostly because I have no opportunity to practice it. However I'm fluent in thinking in English. What I'm really bad in is translating between the languages. Often I want to say something in German that I really only can communicate in English.

                  1. @kamikaze Well, that's not due to a lack of skill, but language limitations. Anyone who knows at least two languages will notice it.

                    1. @nerthos I think English is special because it absorbs so many concepts and meanings from other cultures. Whereas German is limited to a German way of thinking about things.

                      1. @kamikaze Yeah, modern English is kind of an hybrid language. I'm thinking about learning German, though.

                        1. @nerthos A lot of people do. I never managed to figure out, why. It's so constrained.

                          1. @kamikaze I particularly like how it sounds, and the fact that many words are just combinations of simpler ones.

                            1. @nerthos It's a great language to be /assertive/ in.

                              1. @kamikaze True, that's all it's really good, though. The rest of it is an utter grammatical mess. But hey, I do need to be able to talk to my partner's parents :P

                              2. @kamikaze Haha, true. That's one of the reasons why it fits me. I'm half German too, so it's part of my heritage. My grandfather taught me a bit, but he died when I was 10 or so, so I didn't manage to learn much.
