  1. What if Princess Twilight is just Hasbro seeing how angry they can make the fandom?

    1. @zeldatra Probably is.

      1. @pokestrike And it's working. This fandom is stupid.

        1. @zeldatra Yes... yes you are.

          1. @colfax I'm an animator. We are legally obligated to be stupid.

    2. @zeldatra I figured it was Studio B's decision. I'm really curious who made the decision.

      1. @pony There's a theory that says "Hasbro forced the writers into it", but I'm not really sure I buy that.

        1. @ceruleanspark I hesitate to believe that too. I don't think it's actually toy-driven.

          1. @pony The way people say it, it's as though Hasbro just swung in, slammed Alicorn Twilight down on MA Larsons desk sometime last month and left. Toys take months and months to get certified, safety tested, produced and shipped. If it IS a toy based agenda, it's been coming for probably the best part of a year, so there's no reason to assume the writing staff were "unprepared" or that they're being "pressured".

            1. @ceruleanspark Not to mention there've been hints toward *something* big going on with Twi since /at least/ S3E1.

            2. @ceruleanspark By the sound of it, McCarthy wants it to happen “She was set up from the very beginning to be on an important journey,” “We’re building a very unique mythology around being a princess,” etc. http://family-room.ew.com/2013/01/29/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-exclusive-twilight-princess

              1. @pony Yeah I don't think the staff feel hard done by or as if they're getting screwed by hasbro or whatever. If they were mad they'd be echoing Faust's earlier "I don't have any comment to make" type replies.

        2. @ceruleanspark I think Hasbro probably pushed for it, but I don't believe they forced the writers' hands either.

          1. @bitshift I suspect that the meeting was more along the lines of "These are our goals, it's up to you guys how you wish to reach them" rather than Bob Hasbro sitting in a high backed chair, face in shadow, petting a persian cat and finishing every sentence with "you know the price of failure in this organisation".
