How heavy is a sponge cake, on average?

@thelastgherkin Assuming you mean a simple victoria sponge, then it is comprised of 250g flour, 250g sugar, 250g butter, 3 medium eggs and some other stuff that you don't need a lot of. So I would say maybe 850g to 1kg for the baked cake.

@thelastgherkin That's just how much one of my sponge cakes would weigh though. Because it's pretty much 'exactly the same amount of everything', you can make one as big or as small as you want with no effort whatsoever. Delia Smith says 170g of everything gives you a 20cm cake, so mine are probably bigger than average. But I'd still give it a figure of 1kg just to be safe.
