    1. @therainbowdashx There's no way you're going to be working 40 hours a week. Especially part time. And you're not counting in taxes that'll be deducted unless you're working under the table.

      1. @flamingpandaomg im 14 and the 8 hours is decidable

Saturday, 15-Jun-13 05:22:27 UTC from web
        1. @therainbowdashx Still, especially if you're 14, you can't be working 40 hours a week. I'm not super aware of other state laws, but in Missouri at least there's a maximum amount of work you can perform per week. Regardless, you're still not counting taxes that'll be deducted, so you'll actually earn considerably less.

          1. @flamingpandaomg well my dad works more than 12 hours a day so im guessing the laws are different

            1. @therainbowdashx That's your dad. Adults can work extremely long hours without anything breaking a law. There's child labor laws that limit the hours for anybody who's under the legal age to work.

              1. @flamingpandaomg Working in agriculture also has its own set of laws and regulations.

                1. @scribus I'm sure it can't be incredibly different though. I know I used to help bale hay and the hours didn't matter because it was out in the country, but I still can't imagine him being allowed to work a full 40 hours of work per week.

                  1. @flamingpandaomg If you work for a farmer, It shouldn't be hard to rack up 40 hours if you're doing the right stuff.

                  1. @therainbowdashx Windows Vista/7: start button -> search for 'cmd' -> run it -> copy and paste "net stop windows update" (without the quotation marks) -> press enter. It'll disable windows update for a little while to prevent it from turning your computer off.

                      1. @therainbowdashx Also, it's good to have an administrator account, and then a regular account you use all the time, never touching the administrator account. It prevents viruses from doing whatever they want when you're not paying attention. :\

              3. @flamingpandaomg Those laws screw up teens who want to work. I myself wanted to have a proper jub during high school since I had a lot of free time and the stupid laws didn't allow me to

Saturday, 15-Jun-13 05:27:38 UTC from web
                1. @nerthos It's usually for good reason, because it's very hard to balance a full time job and have schoolwork. I know it killed me when I was baling hay during high school.

                  1. @flamingpandaomg I literally did nothing at home and still got good grades. Stupid laws. They protect the useless and screw the gifted.

                    1. @nerthos >.> You do know that not everyone who can't get their work done all in class aren't useless, right? I had school, academic bowl and student council along with my job. It was absolutely miserable, but I was proud of what I did.

                      1. @flamingpandaomg Nah, I didn't meant it like that. What I meant is "they don't allow people who can to use their free time as they want, to protect those who don't for x reason" Of course there's people who don't have the time to work and study for legit reasons, but there's a lot that can't just because they don't bother enough inside school.

                        1. @nerthos Eh. I can speak for both sides, due to the fact that I slacked majorly my freshman and sophomore years in high school. I didn't care for classes or grades, and only did what I wanted. After realizing how much of an effect I was having, I decided to pick myself up and get my act together before it was too late.

Saturday, 15-Jun-13 05:36:45 UTC from web
                          1. @flamingpandaomg I basically went through highschool finishing what was required really fast and then slacking off the rest of the day. I had bad grades in some assignments, yeah, but that was becasue syndicate laws allow teachers to be really crappy and yet retain their jobs, and I always argued with the teachers that didn't do their job properly, generally resulting in both me having somewhat bad grades in the assignment and the whole class laughing at the teacher. And then there were the practical classes in which I was half of the time excempt from essays/tests because I was just better than the rest at technical stuff, so the professors generally decided it was better to have me do practical jobs or solve things they themselves were supposed to do, and in exchange give me good grades. And I was pretty pleased with that.

    3. @widget I know. It's not a completely foolproof idea, but it's still a decent safeguard when it comes to viruses that alter system files and whatnot, things that you can't normally do with a regular account. It's still a good practice to know telltale signs of viruses and be cautious overall, keep a good antivirus / antimalware tool running and all that jazz. X3

Saturday, 15-Jun-13 05:40:15 UTC from web
    4. @widget Would it be easy to do that for a non-linux OS though? I've heard of things like that but I've only seen it done on Linux, not something like Windows 7.
