Thursday, 24-Oct-13 08:12:58 UTC from web-
@dropsterdash Fairly cromulent
-
@dropsterdash Decent! Sleepy.
-
@ceruleanspark umm... *looks up cromulent* That's good. Cromulence is good.
-
@coffeecream Just decent? Not enormously amzing?
-
@dropsterdash It's been a big day :) But amazing in that I got some important things done and I am READY for my learner's permit test very soon
-
@coffeecream Nice! Sounds like fun.
-
@coffeecream But don't be surprised if many of your friends are apprehensive when you start driving...
-
@coffeecream They make you sit a test before you can get a learner's permit?
-
@rotation Yeah! Basically there's a book you can get with the road rules and how to get your licence and responsibilities and such, and they test you on that before you get your Ls
-
@coffeecream What can you do when you have a learners permit?
-
@coffeecream Interesting. In the UK, there's a similar test, but you need to have your provisional (learner's) before you can sit it.
-
@rotation Ah, I see. Learner and Provisional licences are separate here. So it goes L > P > full licence. The provisional test contains the actual drive test part.
-
@ceruleanspark The main parts are that I must indicate on my car that I am a learner driver; must be accompanied by a fully licenced driver at all times when driving (and I think I can't have other passengers); must have no alcohol in my system; mustn't tow anything; mustn't use my phone on the road (but that's a given to everybody); and of course I must be driving a registered vehicle. When I get my provisionals I get a bit more leeway (biggest being that I would be able to drive on my own).
-
@coffeecream Ah, that's basically equivelant to our Provisional License. We just don't that intermediary step.
