SON OF A kiwi WHY WON'T THIS STUPID PAGE ACTUALLY TELL ME WHY IT'S SUDDENLY DECIDING NOT TO SHOW A SINGLE THING WHEN I CAN'T FIND A SINGLE REASON FOR IT TO BE CRASHING LIKE THIS

@redenchilada That is exactly the problem I keep running into when I try and install the upgrade!
-
@ceruleanspark I'm just trying to set up an action. The action isn't even /doing anything/ yet. ;~;
-
@redenchilada All /I/ was trying to do was /install statusnet from scratch onto a clean database/
-
@ceruleanspark Why don't you try pump.io?
-
@ceruleanspark did you just effectively double italicize
-
@equestriagaming >Migrating the site to pump.io >Despite it being even a bigger joke than StatusNet >Implying the userbase won't just spontaneously combust
-
@nerthos >Write your own *horseapples*
-
@equestriagaming Except pump.io is somehow even worse than StatusNet.
-
@equestriagaming I did try pump.io but it actually made me miss statusnet
-
@ceruleanspark @redenchilada ...Wow. That's scary.
-
@equestriagaming As an example of its brilliance: It only runs on its own webserver (node) and is explicitly designed so that you can't proxy it through nginx or anything, so if you want to run pump.io, you either need a dedicated IP for it alone, or to forgo the opportunity to run anything else on port 80
-
@equestriagaming Why would I, StatusNet is enough for me as long as I don't have to be an admin.
-
@ceruleanspark Also, wasn't StatusNet renamed to GNU Social?
-
@equestriagaming It was a fork or something. I'm not up on the politics of it.
-
@equestriagaming It's still StatusNet according to everyone who uses it.
-
@ceruleanspark Actually, it isn't a fork: the StatusNet was just handed over to GNU, who decided to rename it (although like @redenchilada said, folks still refer to it as StatusNet for some reason).
-
@redenchilada So just us then?
-
@equestriagaming GNU Social existed prior to THE FALL though, as a statusnet byproduct derived from the 0.9X code.
-
@ceruleanspark Us and those guys who occasionally come on and marvel at how big of a community we are for being StatusNet-powered, yeah, pretty much.
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@redenchilada Apparently we're missing a trick by not using whatever activeMQ is for a queue server. That's what status.net was allegedly using to scale.
-
@ceruleanspark A STOMP server? That's what the queues part of the readme refers to, anyway.
-
@redenchilada That is what it is, yes.
