  1. Most pony music is house, I've noticed, though there is a lot of rock and acoustic stuff, too. Therefore, that is *mostly* what I hear these days.

      1. @rarity Be that as it may, there is a lot of brilliant stuff out there.

        1. @clayinthecarpet I know my opinion isn't a common one in this fandom but I disagree. Apart from a couple producers, brony musicians are just bad. Obviously that's just my opinion but there you go. There's a reason they're brony musicians and not just musicians...

          1. @rarity Wow. I'm sorry you feel that way. You're missing out on a lot of good stuff, then. Just because something isn't at the peak of technical prowess doesn't make it automatically mangoty.

            1. @clayinthecarpet You see, it does. I don't want to listen to some idiot with less than an octave vocal range sing into his gaming headset mic over generic guitar chords. I don't want to listen to the same exact 4 on the floor drum beat in every song (looking at you Tombstone). The only brony musicians that I've heard of that I can stand are Alex S and Eurobeat Brony.

              1. @rarity You're talking about all the bad stuff. I'm not. There is a LOT of very, very well-made pony music out there that you're not taking into account. Granted, it's made by like 20 to 30 artists, so a small cross-cut of the whole fandom...but I could sit here and send you a hundred fantastically-produced songs, easy.

                  1. @rarity o_@ Wow. I guess we're on two completely separate pages of two completely separate books on two separate continents, then. ;)

                2. @clayinthecarpet there's lots of awesomeness out there! Some of it is meh, but even that I find enjoyable often since it deals with themes I enjoy including ponies.

                  2. @pony I only listen to the best works in my own interpretation of "best works"... I judge it by whatever each individual song brings to the table as far as flow and feeling. If I like the flow and feeling of a song, and the lyrics aren't *too* crappy, and the singer hits all his vocal marks, I totally jive with it most of the time. There is a slight technical aspect to my judgment, but it's overall a more raw, emotional response to the sound I'm hearing.

                    1. WoodenToaster's Heartmender was a wonderful creation, but I honestly like Sim Gretina's remix better for its overall feeling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZoQSkBW-zk

                    2. @clayinthecarpet good description. I feel the same way about what I listen to usually. I still organize the mediocre to listen to on occasion.

                              1. @pony I can't blame you for that at all, good sir. I only saw it for the first time a couple years ago, but MAN is it nice. The pacing kinda sucks because of the length of the film, but overall, it really works. And man, it is GORGEOUS, too.

                                1. @clayinthecarpet Did you know that Hayao Miyazaki actually worked on that film under Rankin-Bass at the time? Trippy.

    2. @mrmattimation then why did he get so butthurt when I called him out on it

Thursday, 07-Nov-13 01:23:29 UTC from web
    3. @mrmattimation Fun fact: Tombstone has actually been changing up his sound a lot lately. He's doing soundtracks now that sound completely unlike his style, so he's growing as an artist. I'm glad he's moving away from all that.

    4. @mrmattimation nah, I called him out on like, Twitter or something. it's amazing how people will rise to apple on Twitter. I once called out Skrillex and he responded to me, so that was fun

      1. @rarity Well, artists don't like it when OTHERS say negative things about their work. I should know. I am totally guilty of insulting my own work then getting ticked off when someone critiques me.

        1. @mrmattimation I don't agree with what you just said. I'm ALWAYS asking for critique, though...I'm in a different position to request such things as you are, IE: sculptures can be altered....Finished vids cannot.
