  1. @widget I've heard of that one/

  2. @widget ...Which? The timeline header being visible or a full post being visible?

  3. @widget Socket backlog?

  4. @rarity @widget Is there /any/ clue what could be causing this? It's a serious problem sometimes.

  5. @widget Yeah, I'll work on that after I get to this.

  6. @widget So what do you mean when you say "a little bit"? The "Public timeline" header appears in full in a 1000x600 viewport with a few changes I've made to it so far (with a one-line site notice). Do you want, like, a full post to be visible or what's considered good? (I ask because I want to know what height I should trigger the "vertically compressed header" mode at.)

  7. @widget I'll work on it.

  8. @widget Yeah, I probably should do that.

  9. @widget The main thing is I want it to catch the user's attention before the timeline. If I make it too small, it'll just look like header boilerplate and their eyes will move right over it, and I want it to be there to give an overview of what the site before they jump straight into the timeline.

  10. @widget But muh fancy graphics. :< Maybe set it to be smaller on screens with less vertical space but leave it as-is on larger screens? Maybe? :s

  11. @widget But I like to bug people about things xD

  12. @widget Where should I put it, then? :/

  13. @widget Wait, threaded will be default?

  14. @widget Yeah, for a "play some games, browse internet, send mails" user phone-based computing would be great.

  15. @widget Oh, I was on the wrong branch. NewUserAdPlugin should be there. (It's just plugins/NewUserAdPlugin.php. It's not in its own folder because I didn't feel like putting it there at the time.)

  16. @widget git add plugins/NewUserAdPlugin.php, right? I'm trying to start using Git from the command line.

  17. @widget I guess I did that somewhere else instead, then. One moment, please.

  18. @widget ...Huh. I thought it had, since you commented on the heredoc identifier I used.

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:52:44 UTC from web in context
  19. @widget Yeah. I pushed the plugin that does that, right? NewUserAdPlugin.php or whatever?

  20. @widget The last time I touched it was to update the .gitignore.

  23. @widget True. BFF was good because it was $20 for a two-day con. (They also didn't have any show guests so I wouldn't expect cons that have them to be that cheap, but still)

  24. @widget Well, they have people like DeLancie, right? That makes $60 or whatever their prereg rates are make a bit more sense. The first-year cons generally don't have those kinds of guests. Smaller-name VAs, maybe. But no DeLancie or Tara.

  25. @widget I'm talking about weekend preregistration prices, though.

  26. @widget He's talking about for the weekend, not just one day.

  27. @widget Blitz.io. Their free plan, combined with the web-accessible portion of the SN API allows you to do it. It's pretty interesting. I was aiming for "60 consecutive requests a second" as Welcomepony averages out to 60 unique users a day.

  29. @widget See, that would interest me, but I doubt there'll be a Ubuntu Phone with a physical keyboard.

  30. @Widget, it always amazes me how that "who is your favorite pony" thing is efficient to identify new users xD
