  1. I'm starting to really get sick of all the first-year pony conventions that charge $50-60 for the weekend. BFF was $20 last year and only going up to $40 this year, the anime con I'm attending next weekend is $40, and EFNW (one of the big pony conventions) is $40 in its second year with a big guest lineup.

    1. @redenchilada they want ALL THE MONEYS

    2. @sprite I just feel like $60 is a ridiculous price for a convention about a specific fandom. Bronycon can get away with it because they've been going for years and have a huge lineup, but all the first-year cons charging that much is just silly.

      1. @redenchilada BotCon attendance is $365 for Transformers Collector's Club members. That is, if you want five of the exclusive toys.

        1. @thelastgherkin If you put a dollar aside every day from now, you'll be able to afford to go the next one.

          1. @ceruleanspark I'm not a club member, and that doesn't begin to include planes and other transport. :/ That's why I'm dragging you to Auto Assembly in Birmingham next year instead.

            1. @thelastgherkin Are you going to the MG plant?

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:15:21 UTC from web
        2. @thelastgherkin Well, that's officially-sanctioned (according to what I read on the site) and also has exclusive collector's toys. I'm just saying.

          1. @redenchilada I'm saying that our convention is better than any horse convention out there

      2. @redenchilada Not sure how thw Uk compares. # is £90 / $130 but it is the only one, and I think the UK is probaly more expensive. We dont get many guests though.

        1. @vcgriffin Cheesus. I thought that one worked out to just $60.

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:08:24 UTC from web
        2. @vcgriffin Isn't it about twice as expensive as it was last year?

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:17:18 UTC from web
          1. @rotation nearly. Last year was £50. There is an extra event this year. A concert on the friday (£15). And we are getting show and comunity guests this year (De-lance and Cindy Morrow) (Tombstone, ect).

            1. @vcgriffin Do you think it's worth it?

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:25:45 UTC from web
              1. @rotation I do. I'm not aquanted with how much concert tickets cost, but I do think the price is reasonable. They are probaly charging the top end though. (I think they are in a too large/ expensive venue though)

                1. @vcgriffin For cheap seats at concerts: Fleetwood Mac £45, M-People £25, Peter Gabriel £30. In terms of venue size, you always need to over-estimate your attendance. Sometimes by an order of magnitude.

                  1. @rotation Hmm. I work it out as long as I am paying less for my ticket than I am for my accomadation, I think Its a good deal. As for the venue, it just looks huge (from the photos) I get about having extra capacity.

                  2. @rotation I just dont have anything to compare it to really. Only ever been to events at the NEC and ALCON (wich is hosted at my old uni) and the only festival I went to I kinda hellped run. *shrugs*

              2. @rotation I would probaly pay more to go though. It was really fun last year. And we are getting a raft of comunity guests this year. (allthough I am not bothered about that and will probal just get relly nervous)

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:05:07 UTC from web
    5. @widget I'm talking about weekend preregistration prices, though.

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:06:10 UTC from web
    6. @widget Well, they have people like DeLancie, right? That makes $60 or whatever their prereg rates are make a bit more sense. The first-year cons generally don't have those kinds of guests. Smaller-name VAs, maybe. But no DeLancie or Tara.

Saturday, 29-Jun-13 19:10:32 UTC from web
    7. @widget True. BFF was good because it was $20 for a two-day con. (They also didn't have any show guests so I wouldn't expect cons that have them to be that cheap, but still)
