  3. My store was fully stocked on baby formula until the news started saying we were running out of baby formula. Now we’re running out of baby formula because people think we’re running out of baby formula and they’re coming in to buy as much as they can. Completely manufactured panic.

  4. Avatar is the least-exciting hyped movie I can remember. Everybody praises the 3D viewing experience but I think the use of 3D is only so good because all other 3D movies did it wrong in a way or another. Story-wise it's a dud in my opinion. The plot is as transparent as the main protagonist is flat and uninteresting.

  6. Really think Adam Sandler shoulda been the next Doctor. Doctor Jew.

about 12 days ago from web
    • @zeldatra I heard the BBC passed because the songs he tried out just didn't fit with their vision of the Doctor. I guess acoustic-guitar-backed manchild moans about "timey-wimey" just appeal to a very select audience.

    • @scribus was really looking forward to hearing the doctor talk like an actor whose entire understanding of mental disability comes from very special episodes of the 1980s

about 13 days ago from web
    • @scribus Like Elon Musk purchasing Twitter and Facebook going meta, I fail to see what Web 3.0 has to offer me, the content creator. As soon as somebody can tell me how MY life changes, that’s when I’ll start caring.

  9. i go to watch Sonic 2 and when i get back i learn I've missed a prominent Republican Congressman getting his gay sex tape leaked, then him claiming that the gay sex in the gay sex tape was simply a prank and there was nothing gay or sexual about it.

    • @zeldatra animated pretty much 100% in Microsoft PowerPoint with the circle tool and automated slides at a 1/24th of a second delay, but there’s a little bit of CGI in there too… wanted to invoke Futurama here.

  14. Got today my first scammer on my company phone. They spoofed a local phone number (probably a SIP gate) and called probably from India, as the caller had an Indian accent and spoke English. They said they were from Microsoft and my computer had a "problem". I didn't hesitate very long and hung up. It'd be funny to waste their time but it's also my time too that would have been wasted.

  15. Now, I, fully vaccinated AND having caught the virus, personally am proceeding through life as I did prior to the pandemic, with the exception that I wear a mask to work and in crowded places still, but the idea that there should be zero precautions taken whatsoever and people just shouldn’t care about it anymore is frankly incredibly shortsighted.

    • @scribus The blatantly-rude and incorrect comment "we can skip the “muh freedom” dog and pony show, we all know you don’t actually care about that" is incorrect for many reasons, but one in particular that can be proven here: This site runs on GNUSocial (previously known as statusnet), and I learned about this website through exploring GNU software that I do not usually use. I ise Free software and reccomend it to my peers because I very much do caer about freedoms and liberties, unlike the aforementioned. All of the aspects of my "rat" are perfectly comprehensible, but I would understand that you would be confused as the StatusNet link now directs to an unrelated website.

    • @vernandex I am fed up by people doing the thing that perpetuates the current situation. Instead of getting it under control it is getting worse. I want it to be over but doing the opposite is madness.

about 2 months ago in context
    • @adiwan You know it's never going to "be" over, right? You can't exactly get rid of a respiratory disease that almost everyone has had alread, and the mindless proponents of the things that are supposed to stop the disease don't realize know what the law of diminishing returns are. People are over it, no one cares anymore; they'd rather get sick for a while instead of wearing masks and get forced medications than pretend like it'll one day go away entirely. The most you can do is stop holding things up by wearing masks all the time for no good reason and, maybe, getting sick once in a while, like normal.

    • @vernandex I always wonder why the party who asks "Why do you care?" cares, y'know? This door swings both ways, as the Hermits say.

  23. The stylistic influence that Edd Gould’s animation had on my work is obvious. Although I’ve tried, in recent years, to downplay it, I think it’s impossible to really deny just how influential Eddsworld was to me. I wonder a lot if what I’m doing meets the standard that his work sets. Am I using that influence to carry on his legacy? Or am I doing him a disservice, like robbing his grave and stripping him of what made him so highly regarded in an attempt to further my own career? Am I a representative of the generation he inspired, a piece of the future, or am I merely a phony, a copycat who clings to the past? These thoughts go through my head a lot. I still wish he’d been around to see it. His death inspired me to take animation seriously as an art form, but the truth is that I’d trade that all away, because I don’t think my presence in this game comes anywhere close to making up for what was lost ten years ago.

about 2 months ago from web
    • @zeldatra I mean, like, EVERY puppet* is a Henson-style hand-and-rod all-but Muppet these days, you know? Influence is just one of those things. Some algorithm online keeps telling me I write almost exactly like Stephen King, and I barely read any of his work! I uh... don't know if I got a POINT to that tangent, but. . . .

  24. OK wow. When I was 16 I slipped on a brick wall, fell, and tore a hole in my left shin. I have a distinct scar for as long as I have my leg beneath the knee. Today, my Dad slipped while cleaning the pool. Tearing up his left shin. Back in the 90s, he patched me up and rushed me to urgent care. Today, I was able to repay him in an oddly specific repeat O___O

  25. i made this car in 2016, when I was 19. This is the first time the badging - a very mature nazi joke, poking fun at Mercedes-Benz' origins as a manufacturer - appears on screen. Going back and forth on whether or not I want to retexture it to remove that. http://rainbowdash.net/url/876094

  26. Germany has a toilet-paper-shortage-like event. People buy cooking oil and flour like crazy. Firstly it's because of fear that there will be a shortage as Russia was a big supplier of those and secondly some of these are used for donations for Ukraine. I'm just glad I already had sufficient cooking oil before that.
