Discovered MLP:FIM in October of 2014. I knew about Bronies and the mass appeal of the show prior, and have some friends who enjoyed it. I saw a Rainbow Dash cosplayed on a show and got curious about the characters, found some art online showing the characters too. But I had only seen a few partial episodes while channel flipping, before seeing a rerun of Equestria Girls and getting hooked. Seen all but 4 episodes at this point. Other fandoms I've had an interest in Kolchak, Star Trek, Marvel, Star Wars, GI Joe ARAH, Transformers, Doctor Who, Miami Vice, Baywatch, Babylon 5, X-Files, Stargate, Highlander, Firefly and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

With no new pony stories in the near future, I feel a little empty now. So when I saw some preview pages of the Equestria Girls Holiday Special comic online today, it peaked my interest and ordered it as a Christmas present for myself. Now I'm thinking of filling my new pony story void between now and 5th season with the IDW series.

Saw "Trade Ya" earlier this week. But then I caved and found "Hearth's Warming Eve" online to watch. Now I'm caught up on the entire series in less then three months. Now I have to wait until Spring 2015 for season 5......BUT I WANT IT NOOOOOOOWWWWW!

Someone just asked me to describe MLP:FIM characters, and I used The Breakfast Club as framework. I explained I had loved TBC in high school, and the idea of a diverse set of archetype characters coming to learn about each other and care for each other was really unique element to 4th gen MLP not present in other gens. I always point out to people that as a kid I grew up on Star Trek reruns and X-Men comic books, and the cooperative diversity of those characters working together that was an early lesson that really became my default mode. The differences between characters becoming the reason their teams were stronger overall. I don't think I see that lesson much these days.

@m14brony Yeah, that's a tough one. After having something set aside for retirement, it's a shame to just zero it out to pay off the student loans. However, paying debt off is usually the wiser choice because you always borrow money at a higher interest rate than you can invest at, so you actually save money by paying off debt first before putting savings aside. Always a tough call.

@m14brony Ah yeah, that's the challenge trying to keep what you borrow for it to a minimum, so there is a chance that the extra income from the job you do with it can cover the payments and give you more income than you had before. After taking a loan for my second graduate degrees, I'm not entirely sure if that is even possible. :)~

@m14brony Oddly, college gave me a lot of TV viewing time which was great because it was the '90s and it was a golden age of Network and syndicated shows: Star Trek: TNG, DS9 and Voyager, X-Files, Baywatch, Babylon 5, The Highlander, and later Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate SG1. Some good short lived ones too, Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Alien Nation, Earth 2, and Young Indiana Jones. TV has kind of been downhill since then. On TNG Data had commented on TV coming to an end before 2040, I think he may have been too optimistic.

@m14brony If you got two full time jobs just to make ends meet, that sucks and I've had to do that before in my life.....however if you have two full time jobs that are your passion and what you love to do, you probably never actually work and enjoy it while making a living (wish I could say I have been there).

@m14brony I have the Dish package that gets me BBC America, Discovery Family and Disney XD so I can see the few shows I watch these days, otherwise I could drop to the next package to save $10. The wife needs her HGTV, The Weather Channel, TV Guide Network for her soap backup, and the DVR for her shows and the news; so I have to keep it for her unless I can find an alternative for her. But she's old school.

After seeing YaYa, Scruffy Rebel and the bunch cosplaying MLP:FIM, I remember noticing all the artwork on DeviantArt on humanized characters and oddly enough lots of Ponies in socks. And I started to learn of the brony fandom and found out a few of my employees were fans. But I think it was last summer before I started coming across episodes in the middle and just stopped to see what they were like. I remember seeing some or all of Griffin the Brushoff, Boast Busters, Fall Weather Friends, Sonic Rainboom, Staremaster, The Show Stoppers, Dragon Quest, Games Ponies Play, Castle Mania, Daring Don't, Rarity Takes Manehatten, and Pinkie Apple Pie. But it was actually catching Equestria Girls in September, that I really got hooked. I knew who Rainbow Dash and Applejack were, but I had trouble learning the other four until I saw the movie and got a feel for their archetypes. They were advertising Rainbow Rocks at the time, so I tuned in to that are started DVRing the episodes.

@m14brony Yeah, I have Dish. So I just DVR them off there. I've considered dropping it, and maybe going with Netflix and going back to local off air stations. Discovery Family has 6 episodes on weekdays and some on weekends.

@m14brony Discovery Family shows them somewhat in order. Sometimes skipping an episode. I think the weekend episodes are a different order. Unless you've got them on disc or downloaded.

So I've been mass consuming MLP since Rainbow Rocks premiered, and thanks to Discovery Family playing MLP:FIM several times a day I've seen nearly all of it. Looking back, I remember my first exposure to gen 4 MLP was the first episode of Heroes of Cosplay in August of 2013. I saw Scruffy Rebel in pony ears with wings, and a rainbow wig. As with the other costumes I was unfamiliar with, I looked up to see what character she was, recognizing easily that she was probably a humanized MLP. That's when I learned about Rainbow Dash for the first time. I also found quite a few pics of the other cosplayers from the show together all in MLP:FIM cosplay in a previous convention.

Bats! is off my list now. They're nine episodes into 4th season, so Trade Ya should come up soon. Just Hearth's Warming Eve after that. I may buckle waiting for it on Discovery Family tho, and just find somewhere online to watch it.

@nerthos Season 4, 3rd episode. Twi is researching the box from the previous 2 parter in the castle of the two sisters library. It's basically their Ghost and Mr Chicken Episode. A little bit Scooby Doo too. It's one of the first I saw and still a favorite of mine.

@nerthos They skipped over Luna Eclipsed and Castlemania in the run too, then showed them both on Halloween, so that's what I'm figuring Discovery Family is up to. Going the cheap route with the DVR, finances have been tight for the last few years and I can barely afford Dish let alone adding to my DVD library. Someday.

@awlditzy I've seen the last few minutes of it prior to setting the DVR to get the whole series after Rainbow Rocks. So I just need to see it in totality at this point.

@nerthos Thanks. For some reason they skipped it on the second season run thru on Discovery Family. Probably saving it for the holidays. I've been DVRing them since the Rainbow Rocks premiere and they've almost completely run thru all of them now.
