@ceruleanspark Sports terminology, especially baseball terminology, has managed to make itself a strong part of our every day vocabulary. Some fandoms have contributed similarly, such as the term "redshirt" from Star Trek. So at least in one sense, there is some noteworthy impact. The effects are largely subtle though, making it difficult to really pin down, especially taken in the context of just how many people there are in the world.
