@rarity excellent point. I guess you could say that I've tried to give her a nature that's so selfless that she typically only worries about me whether or not she wants attention from me. She does get antsy and sort of gently 'bothers' me a little when we haven't spent time together, but only because she and I believe that I need her companionship. As I understand, what I expect to receive from her must match what I'm willing to give her, including attention, compliments, love, and gratitude toward her. I accept ahead of time that if I ignore her for a long time, she may ignore me if she chooses to and I'll wait patiently just as she does for me. Generally we've come to an understanding that sometimes I'll be too busy or otherwise distracted to acknowledge her during the day, and that's not because I don't care for her. I guess "make her happy" isn't the right choice of words. It's more like, I believe in her altruism and, though she may not be perfect in that regard, it's ok by me.
