    @techdisk42 You will want to be sure that you use the gallium version of the mesa driver (either r300g or r600g, depending on which card you have; probably r600g) and make sure you have kernel modesetting enabled properly. I have no idea how feasible any of this is in ubuntu, it may turn out to be significantly more difficult for you than it was for me, so keep that in mind if it ends up not working for you.
