    # My headcanon is that pony parents go to a cave with their new-born foal in which the elder ponies are. The elder ponies have the ability to see into the pony's future and thus they can choose a name that won't be embarrasing. (Yeah, I stole this from the Disney series "Dinosaurs" but it makes so much sense to me.)
