It all started during World War II, when the US Army fell under the command of one John A. Treyarch. An elite squadron of fighters known as the Ghosts were formed. They personally assassinated Adolf Hitler, and then assassinated him again when he rose from the grave as a zombie. The Nazi Zombie plague was short lived, thanks to the Ghosts. It was during the Vietnam War that the Ghosts discovered a national conspiracy to destroy the world. After once again saving the world from a zombie plague, the Ghosts worked tirelessly. In 2011, a group of ultranationalists in Russia take control of several middle-eastern countries, and Russia itself. An invasion is launched on the east coast of the US, but the Ghosts manage to defeat the ultranationalists and save America. Then, for some reason, the Cold War happened again, and yet another zombie plague is unleashed upon the world. After defeating the zombies again, the Ghosts realized their true cause: they had to save the world... in SPACE.
