My Film Studies mock is on Friday and I really don't care if I fail it. Like, the bulk of it is literally "regurgitate everything you know about four movies." Like, why? What does this prove? That I can memorise who played Andy Dufresne, and that I think the high-angle shots in The Full Monty show a role reversal between father and son. If I, hypothetically, was to go into a career in the film industry, what does it matter that I can analyse every scene in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? Sure, I've learned how lighting and colour and mise-en-scéne can amplify the effect of a scene, but in a context that literally will not help me ever. Forcing me to rewrite what I've already written before except under timed conditions and without notes does not prove a goddamn thing about anything.
