The problem is the Conservative party in Canada was formed by two other right-wing-ish entities and so now you have three parties representing the left-ish vote, but only one representing the right, which gives them better odds of winning elections despite them having, say 30% of the vote compared to the other parties' 15-17% each. If you add up the other parties' votes, the majority of Canadians didn't vote for the Cons, but because they had the single largest number of votes, they won. That's the downside to having more than two parties. Fragmentation.
