@awl Lain is definitely the kind of show that warrants multiple watchings in my opinion, it's incredibly dense (almost to a fault) and many of its events and sequences are told out of order and through reality bending setpieces that constantly subvert the viewer's perception of whatever it is that's happening onscreen. It's full of subtle details and hints but never really spells anything out, so piecing everything together and really drawing conclusions not only about the themes the show was articulating but also just what the hell even happened in it are all part of what made it so engaging for me to watch.
