  1. @yodelerty I guess for me games have a lot of appeal in terms of interactive storytelling, so I think there's a give and take as far as goals of games can be concerned. I mean, I can find a game like Smash Bros really fun because I can viscerally engage with it and enjoy it on the merits of the speed and depth of its gameplay alone, but with a game like Shadow of the Colossus "fun" generally isn't the first word that comes to mind when I think of it. More like "isolating". Sure, it feels incredibly rewarding to figure out how to defeat a boss and go about bringing them down in these massive triumphant battles, but everything in the game from its writing to its visuals to even the movement of its inhabitants screams this absolute emotional agony. The game puts this immensely distant weight on the player's shoulders and it's this incredible command of atmosphere and feeling that really elevates the game. So its goals aren't as much to be "fun" as much as to facilitate a player experience
