@mrmattimation On topic, an anime from earlier this year, Shirobako, actually gets its narrative framing around characters in the anime industry and the hardships and compromises they must make as a result to achieve their dreams. It's obviously dramatized to some extent, but it made for a lot of really strong conscious commentary in the writing. Animators in Japan don't make a lot of money aside from the big directors and whatnot, and all of them just do it because it's their passion and it's what they love to do, even if they end up sacrificing any free time as well as sleep.
