@ceruleanspark it's a retcon sort of thing. as soon as it becomes overwhelming public opinion that some part of their belief system is bigotry, the majority of the followers of that belief, usually within a generation, will act as if they always felt that way since the very beginning, because they will believe so. the human brain is a fickle structure. one could say it has an ego all its own
