Interesting note about the upcoming congressional races, from a purely non-partisan standpoint with no personal beliefs or biases taken into account: Texas senator Ted Cruz (R) is polling within eight points of the likely Democratic nominee. Ordinarily, an eight point lead is pretty good, and if it were September or October, it would be, but in a state like Texas, this far out from the election, a Republican’s lead in polling should be HIGHER. In past elections, the GOP candidate usually polled 15 points or more ahead of the Dem. Combining this with other outside factors (such as the Democrats’ increased turnout in elections that have happened since 2016, as well as the President (and by extension his party)’s low approval among likely voters, Ted Cruz should be very worried about his job security right now.
