  1. I went and looked into it and the candidate who won the highest percentage of the white vote since 1992 was actually Mitt Romney in 2012, with 59%. Trump and Bush 43 (2004) are tied at 58%. McCain and Bush (2000) won 55%. Dole got 48% in 1996. Bush 41 got 40% in 1992 while Clinton got 39%, so there's room to argue that Clinton probably would have won the white vote in 1992 (and been the only Democrat to do so) if Ross Perot wasn't on the ballot (he won 20%). In terms of Democrats, Obama has the best performance among white voters, which he achieved in 2008. That was... 43%.
