Hogwarts Legacy got off pretty lucky. As a game, it is a broken unplayable mess that is probably going to brick your Xbox, but because the series creator is an unhinged lunatic who belongs in an asylum for the terminally crazy, most people are focusing on that instead. I’m pretty sure Warner Bros could’ve shipped a tech demo with two spells and a test map for $60 and the conversation around it would still revolve around JK Rowling’s transphobic ravings instead. I feel for the devs who have to deal with the venom that she’s injected her own IP with, but on the other hand, if the game had released in this state and JK Rowling was an inoffensive media darling, they’d probably be in a lot of cherry right now. As it stands she’s taken all the heat off of them.
