  1. I tend to live in the unhappy place where you have too many machines to maintain but not enough resources to support a full test environment. I find # stable and security only updates good enough. YMMV of you run something else.

  5. hmm, that's odd: I read something about Nagios (monitoring), mentioning version 4.0.1 had been released in October 2013; then I go and look it up in Synaptic and find !debian only has version 3.4.1 - does anyone know why it doesn't have the newer version?

  19. Okay, note to myself. Never touch repositories. Never touch programs. I just tried to install the # testing version of # and apt decided to fulfill it by not actually installing it but REMOVING PROBABLY TWO-THIRDS OF THE SYSTEM PACKAGES. Including Xorg, my ATI drivers and all of my DE stuff I think.

Bloody hell. I don't know how I do it! Guess I'm reinstalling... Again. Maybe I should just document every single thing I do somewhere so that someone better can rescue me next time... HA! Like that will work, I have problems that nobody else has ever had before. I make huge system-killing mistakes out of doing normal stuff.

  30. To record # streams you need a # browser, no Silverlight/Moonlight plugin, & the ability to play mp4 (browser-plugin-vlc package in #). Tools > Page info > Media will give you the stream URL. Record via # @tregeagle
