  13. @dragnucs ah, I wasn't very clear... the network is a # of servers, some call it a federated universe / fediverse

  14. @lnxw48@fresh.federati.net Oh, man... I've been learning for 1735 days already - need a cold coffee soon. Can you speak any other languages? Ok I'll try n o t to do # Romulan, because, that is anti # too much. What's my favorite Star Trek? Mine is Voyager. (btw: it's been 461 years and 18 painful nights since Suleiman the Magnificent's first-born son by Mahidevran Sultan, Sehzade Mustafa Muhlisi, died in Konya https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Eehzade_Mustafa )

  15. for me: every of those systems would also be fine when people would run it #, and even better on their own device (at home). E.g. twister was for me the 1st time I did the self-hosting. I could have done it before with them (pagekite, dyndns, ...), but I didn't (or wasn't motivated or had trouble). Now that I have it, I see the wasted effort(s). The distinction of # or # should definitely be made here

  21. @mk another thing that strikes me about the # is that we can have *real* # ranging across the federation (not just snippets of talk on a single server); and not to forget # (while there are still problems to solve, by and large federated conversations and federated groups actually work)

  22. As a matter of fact: the "time machine" (1) function is improved now. Let's see if this # experiment helps people to see the # better on their instances. (1) http://oracle.skilledtests.com/conversation/244866

  23. Do you think other SN users will at least 1x per day link to a SN thread on # SN instance than their own ? So people "realize" that there exists # ?

  26. Agree, Hannes has actually done something: he created # What the admins of that SN do and the users signing up there: is T H E I R + their communities' decision. What W E need to do is: make those people who promote SN "realize": they should teach # right from begin (and N O T prefer one, few SNs). Otherwise: we'll have again super-instances (and the problems those will sooner or later experience)

  29. it depends, truth is: quitter was the first SN which had at begin # done by us and was # Only after a while more public SNs popped up. And now we're seeing # behaviour (everyone running to where the others are). Their twitter UI "clone" inherits automatically same associations as people have with twitter (+/-). If the new quitter users are "taught" into # concepts who knows... We've seen some users who # from quitter elsewhere, but only some. BTW: I don't like the # theme either and I'm not sure how public the info about old.quitter.se is for newcomers but let's wait and see. (The centralistic behaviour I discussed in previous dent)
