Pinkie's skill with earth pony magic is rather unique. She ice skates during Winter Wrap Up, manages magical pests musically, predicts events with bodily spasms, works as a baker but seems to have little sense for when things go wrong in the kitchen, and appears to challenge the laws of nature, all while coming from an extremely mundane past in a rock farming. She doesn't seem to grow things nor does she participate in the running of the leaves really. On top of it all her special talent deals with sensory stimulation and social gathering. Whether Pinkie is an exception or not to typical earth pony magic is difficult to tell without a larger sample, but the flower ponies, Golden Harvest, the Apple family, and the original concept for Posey all suggest she's at least very uncommon. #canon #observations
