  1. @abjectio Hey, please don't say sorry. This site is something you run voluntarily and the rest of us are getting free accounts! Thank you for running it :-)

4 gb sounds like a lot of memory. Is it normal for a !gnusocial instance (a "public" site as large as gnusocial.no ) to consume that much? Are you running quitter.no on the same database?

It would be useful to know the memory consumption of some of the other instances too. When I ran a single user instance on a shared host, my site was deactivated after some months due to overuse of resources... #

  2. The easiest microblogging software to backup, "migrate" and restore is !Twister . This is data portability at it's best. Every account is self-hosted with no complicated databases. #

  4. I’ve been running KDE (#) on # for the past few weeks. This is my first time on KDE since I ditched Kubuntu 6.06. While everyone was busy debating Gnome shell, MATE and Cinnamon, # has evolved into the best desktop imo. What a pleasant surprise! It looks so complete and stable. I see no reason for switching to anything else in the near future. I am not surprised that they’ve won this last year! https://dot.kde.org/2012/03/05/kde-best-desktop-environment-year #

  5. I will try to make a suggestion. Another # process on how to use # :) # is obviously and understandably not ready for most shared hosts. A warning has to be there, that this is experimental software. And users who are not comfortable with the command line should be advised to find a public site run by someone else. And get your own server (VPS or above) to gain full control. # #

  6. I wonder what would happen if I restored my instance at a different address on a different domain. I assume it would not resurrect as smoothly as it did with this one? Subscribers will not be able to find my new location without adding me again, right? !fediverse #

  9. This is good to hear. So, at least some people have attempted restoring and succeeded. I should keep trying. Technically it should be possible to restore everything, including subscriptions, if you are restoring on the same domain. # cc @mcscx@rainbowdash.net
