Winding down with an Brand IPA - I love this !beer! Then a shower and off to bed: I'll have to get up early again #tomorrow for networking in Utrecht and meeting with architect back in Groningen again. #busybusybusy

Bedtime! (Or should I say "sudoku time"?) Time to wind down, relax, and fall asleep anyway. #fallasleeptime. Good night !tzag !fediverse !tempfix #tomorrow I must update my journal - I'm way behind!

OK, bedtime, early, especially after my "siesta" but I have quite a lot of sleep to catch up with. Had a good meeting with my kitchen designer this morning, and that was the last "productive" thing I did. #tomorrow I'll have various errands to run (CD markers! part of preparation for new laptop. :D and more). Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix :)

Studied more IPv6 and also played around with port forwarding - for which my Fritz!Box modem/router turns out to have a very nice user interface. Set up three forwards, two tested, so I'm sure the one for SSH will also work. \o/ #yay! I should encounter the SSH one #tomorrow since I need to re-establish SSH access to NAS and Linode. Firster: #hammock! Good night !tzaf !fediverse !tempfix

Waiting for the latest change @ Linode DNS to propagate so Hurricane Electric DNS is allowed to pull the zone to maintain a slave zone. (Thanks to good help on #linode IRC channel - I'd forgotten that you need to set up the zone so it gives permission to the specific 'slave' DNSs.) Again, it takes longer than expected so I'm just going to sleep and see what's what #tomorrow. Anyway, step 3 of the "Backup plan" almost finished. #networking

OK, #hammock time for me, I'll see #tomorrow morning how my new DNS zone @ Linode is doing. They have a nice clean interface for editing a zone, but a lot is 'hidden' under 'default' which woudl suit many but I don't like. Even if it does prevent some types of error. Anyway, once I've testd it and it's all OK, I'm going to set up a backup @ Hurricane Electric (HE), before tackling the 'dynamic' part of the DNS. See you all at the other end of darkness!

OK, by now it seems old records have been 'dropped' - where ping first showed results from Gandi, now it says host not known, and dig comes back with NXDMAIN (same thing). #kindofprogres. I also poked areound a little and it seems Gandi's 'standard' TTL is 3 hours (10800). I'll just go to bed, this should have sorted itself out by #tomorrow morning. :)

Giving up on trying to stay awake, I'll now switch from !coffee to !beer. If I do fall asleep, hen so be it - I've decided to skip the Tai Chi lesson #tomorrow and get this damned SSH working all around (need to be in physical proximity of the NAS until it's all set up properly). *sigh*. At least I'm making some headway with my notes describing how it _should_ work and what bits should go where to make it so... #ssh #sleepinducing

Ha! Good news: while looking for a USB thumb with enough space to easily 'transport' important files from rescueCD-booted Nikola to Dennis, I found one which actually had (in a directory called 'rescue') my most important notes about setting up a connection to Hal (with SSH and sshfs). The notes and code snippets, together with the thread discussing some ideas should be enough to set up a connection from Dennis to Hal - and after that allow SpiderOakONE to make a backup of the backups on Hal. Once that's done, combine that with (manually started) Titanium Backup on the phone, followed by btsync on phone and Hal to 1) put Titanium's backup on Hal as well and 2) keep the KeePass database in sync across machines, too. That should cover most bases. I think. :) That's enough progress for today, I'll start executing this (and keeping new notes!) #tomorrow. Feeling #happy and #relieved that I have more important notes than I thought!

!grrr I need a new mouse - two, in fact. It appears my current ones' electronices is still ok, but mechanically they are problematic, like no 'click' feel when I click, the pushbutton for teh battery compartment gets stuck, and both seem to 'eat' batteries (or rather, battery charges). And of course the two handy local practically-round-the-corner computer & electronics stores have disappeared. :( I'll have to go out #mousehunting #tomorrow. And a new fast battery charger is needed, too - two slots seem to be faulty. Giving up for today... I'm going to solve jigsaw puzzles on my phone ;-)
