  2. One can safely assume that My Little Brony also, eventually, ended with Matt finding peace with his new home. I’d like to think those characters are living a happily ever after off-screen.

    • My obsession with wanting to create not only enjoyable characters, but a believable and wholly independent world for them to live in is going to be the death of me. They could just live in our world. Swole Foods is a reflection of reality. The premise makes as much sense in our world. But that’s not as fun, is it? Kat COULD drive a used Toyota Corolla. Instead she drives a Nagoya Coles. She could have an iPhone. Instead she has the bellPhone. Her shoes could be Nikes. Instead they’re Hermes. Does it make a difference? No, it really doesn’t. But world building is fun, especially if you can successfully convince your audience that the world doesn’t exist to service the characters, but instead that the world just happens to be something the characters live in.

It also results in me getting super attention to detail-y and spending months on 3D maps.

      • I think a Western Union customer is about to complain about me to corporate for no reason (or if it is, it’s not a reason I can discern), cos at the end of the order she suddenly looked really upset and started demanding my name and a way to contact my supervisor, idk what I did cos as far as I know there were no problems. It was more confusing than anything.

The only thing I can think of is she seemed to dislike that I kept a copy of the receipt, which is, like, duh? I need that for reporting?

        • And of course, I'm job hunting, fully aware that the last three jobs I held have driven me to increasingly vivid depths of suicidal ideation. I'd love to get help, but who's footing the bill? I can just barely cover rent and bills. Can't even afford Obamacare; gonna get a tax fine for that come April. Goodie!! I did well in school. I went to college, got a degree (and got hosed in the process, never gonna own a home unless I miraculously do manage to outlive my dad), I've been working my ass to the bone for just about twenty years, the better part of my life, and for what? So some halfwit shareholders can have a yacht with a yacht onboard? All for sitting around on their wallets.

          • At a workshop where I had actors do a table read of the Swole Foods pilot script, I was told I should cut a joke involving Ralph Northam (the then-and-current Governor of Virginia) because he was, at the time, embroiled in a blackface controversy so he probably wouldn’t be governor for much longer AND he had been “canceled” so even saying his name was a bad idea. Well, not only is he still Governor, nobody in Virginia even REMEMBERS the controversy despite it happening THIS year, so I’m gonna chalk that one up as a win for Matt.

Wednesday, 09-Oct-19 14:26:57 UTC in context
            • @scribus Their problem with it was that it WASN’T a joke about the controversy. His name was dropped as a payoff to an EARLIER joke in the script that had really nothing to do with politics at all and was more a joke about the setting and the unique circumstances of Virginia’s statewide offices, some of which are not actually full time jobs (our Lieutenant Governor also works for a law firm, for example). The joke was written days before the controversy broke.

          • What probably stinks for Republicans looking at Trump is knowing that he’s literally their best shot at keeping the White House unless they totally overhaul their platform. No other Republican in the country has the independent support he has (or had). Once he’s gone, be it through losing re-election, failing outright to finish his term, or even if he winds up term-limited in 2024, they’re going to be back to where they were with Mitt Romney, whose failure to gain moderate support rendered Obama’s “blue wall”, for all its faults, virtually insurmountable.

Almost 12 years ! First profitable Q was Q4 of 2018. And here I was having the shadow-thought that everyone would lose their account if the thing goes under anyway.

                          • @drinkingpony That's actually kind of my point. For as many, and as diverse, options as there are, Twitter seems to have an outsized importance in the world's affairs.

                          • @scribus I have to imagine it’s because, unlike Reddit and 4chan and in some ways unlike tumblr and Facebook, Twitter is a single ecosystem. There are no groups, there’s no structural division, they don’t have a separate directory for anything... it’s like writing o a very, very, very big wall, and everyone else in the world is writing on the same wall.

                          • @scribus I think I kinda see what you mean, but in the same breath it was not Twitter that got scrutinized after a certain madman besmirched one of my favourite Initial D songs somewhere over in New Zealand. Those were 8Chan, Kiwifarms, Facebook, Discord and 9gag.

Actually Discord is having a really double reason there.

Not to mention that there are enough people around that hate the Twitter Verified Blue Checkmark ( http://rainbowdash.net/url/875246 ) seeing it as a "blue pill" or "Loony Lefty approved club"

It is actually that specific part where I think you are wrong when you say "Twitter is a single ecosystem. There are no groups," ( @mrmattimation @notice/5464941) . But you are right in that it's like a cocktail party with everyone, there is no structural division. Just a battle over who has the most trending hashtag. Unless if you want to count popularism and realize that if you are a nobody with the greatest thing to say, you will still be ignored.

                        • Why are people in that twitter thread sharing a picture of the 1972 election and treating it like a victory ? ( http://rainbowdash.net/url/875240 )

I mean if it is a quip about how Trump is a crook then they pretty much say 25% of the people inside of the U.S.A. to be stupid ( 56% of America voted, out of which roughly half voted for Trump ).

You garner no good will with those people, and you want those people to NOT vote Trump in 2020. So that is pretty much the equivallent of a 12 year old throwing a temper tantrum going "YOU'RE WRONG !"

But hey, I can see their point. But there was a smart and a stupid way to go about it from my perspective. and... "She chose, poorly" ( I kinda thought a Last Crusade quote would fit well, seeing I think the Democrats should rally before they actually become responsible for a Orange-inspired 2nd term )
