@mushi I tend to wear them because they're resistant enough to offer a degree of protection but not cumbersome. If it were up to me I'd be wearing scale mail.

I suspect that one of the customers that just came through my line beats his wife. I didn't say anything because I wasn't certain, I don't know what to say or who to say it to, and the guy was much bigger than me and I got intimidated. I should have done something, though, and I actually can't get the image of that woman's face out of my mind. I'm not looking for sympathy because I feel like total scum of the earth and I'm not the one who needs it, I just wanted to get that out there, even though none of you guys can do anything/care because keeping my mouth shut felt horrible.

@mrmattimation Men who beat their loved ones are the worst sort of pondscum. That being said I can't blame you for not doing something, especially since there are so many variables in this sort of thing for an outsider to invite their way in.

@mrmattimation As @awl said, it's really hard to intervene in any sort of domestic violence incident without ending up involved or being the bad guy. Even more so since people who are victims in this kind of thing often would rather lash out to anyone who tries to get involved and side with the perpetrator. They or their families will solve it in time if they want to. If you had any proof you could go to the cops, but without any trying to do something will most likely blow in your face.

My absence is due to the fact that I've been extremely busy after I started an NGO dedicated to applying conversion therapy to poor frogs that have been victim of gay chemicals in the water, in the hopes that frog civilization will not suffer the same fate as humans. This takes me about 14 hours a day, seven days a week, most of it spent trying to catch the frogs in a cumbersome gay-resistant HEV suit. (Jokes aside, I've just been in one of my non-social spells. Most of you have only known me for a year or so so you're not used to the fact that roughly once a year I don't feel up to keeping up with social media for 1-3 months. I've mostly spent my free time playing single player games and lately elder scrolls online, so keeping a browser tab open is annoying. I'll try to keep up with this a bit more though, knowing you guys miss …

@critialcloudkicker Personally I enjoy it because the writing does a great job of capturing the subtle nuances of genuine conversation, as if they're real people talking and responding to each other. Also it has some really clever plays on words at times

@tiffany It does ? It sounds to me like they are emotionally dulled all the time, except the spooky house episode I saw. Also that one episode where they competed on Family Fracas. But in that episode they just did dumb stuff I would expect out of a "Barney Stinson / How I met Your Mother" rejected-wastebin involving a Judge Judy and finished the episode by having Bob repair the winner's car's tire while his hole family berates him. It effectively makes me seriously dislike the story, the people in the story, and the conversations that occur. ... Am I going about this wrong or something ?
