  2. It is beginning, people are dumping their VR headsets on used-products websites en masse.

    • @mushi Haha, well the WiiMote was a success actually, and then Sony and Microsoft had to create their own version. And I do not think anyone could ever unironicaly defend those things ( http://imgur.com/QG3T2kd ). Think about it, the Wii sold billions mostly because of that gimmick ( but mostly because it just worked right, and you could do things with it like bowling, and people know bowling, so they could just pick it up and play )

VR technology on the other hand. Oculus ( now FaceBook ) was dumping tonnes of money into it and mayhaps took too long perfecting it, now the competition has ran off with similar idea's. Just like with the Motion Controller idea actually. Does that mean it will inevitably go away ? I hope not, VR is a kickass experience. Kinda like your first roller coaster ride ( *wink wink* )

However, the biggest difference between the above seems to be that Oculus/FaceBook is actively trying to poison it's own well. Which is weird.

    • @critialcloudkicker yes, it made success, but there are real few games that make a decent use of the motion controllers and they usually do not aim the more serious game fan. Leave alone that making a game for VR probably would demand way more time and money to create than one fore controllers.

I'm mean, i'm sure it will be popular, but i dont think it will be a much serious thing

    • @mushi There are 2 things I am sensing here. Firstly, relax, there is no way that VR gaming will become bigger than traditional gaming with a monitor/tv/viewscreen. Well at least not until computers become powerfull enough to make something like a virtual reality desktop become both comfy and easy. Which probably will not happen for a long long while.

And you are confusing "popular" with "serious". I mean, skydiving is popular right now, doesn't mean that everyone who can strap on a parachute will try it.

A lot of people have a computer at home for things like taxes, official documents, and whatnot, so why not game on it ?. That is a cornerstone of the PC's power, and doing taxes with a virtual reality headset ? I do not see that happening untill we are FAR FAR into the future, or the living costs of a bigger house start to outweigh the space you would need for a monitor...

The future will be fun :)

I bring this up because after what happened over here, I've become very averse to apolitical, defeatist attitudes. I understand being disenfranchised and thinking your vote won't matter but it's simply not the way to be when you have a voice. If there's a chance that you might make a difference for the better, please go out on a limb and make that fraction of a difference. Vote if you can. If you can't, get informed, get angry if you think you should. You owe it to yourself.

    • Oh lordielordie, why does a 64km ( 64 divided by 1.6 = 40 miles ) take 3 hours with public transportation ? That is like 21.3 kmph ( 13.4 miles per hour ). I could just about beat that with my bicycle. Not that I am going to now, I'm returning from a mini vacation and my body is just short of wasted.

      • I am coping with a difficult question right now. You see, I am part of a council for the embodyment of client-rights in the WMO-system. And I am on a somewhat impromptu mini vacation with friends right now. Now we do have somewhat significant pull/weight when it comes down to client rights and the upcoming agenda contains some really heavy stuff. Now I just got word that the biggest friend and likeminded person when it comes to this council also just left for an impromptu vacation. Soo, should I cut my vacation short by about half just because I fear that the management waltzes over the remainder of the council ?

                • @dolus I am not really sure how I feel about any of it. On one hand it is absolutely rediculous that farmers have to jump through hoops to continue their livelyhood when their machine breaks down. But on the other hand, if you were to replace the word "farmer" with "obnoxious starbucks sipping artist who uses a Mac"... ... ... I guess what I am saying is that I really like to see a cascade effect of such magnitude after farmers are allowed to repair their own machinery :D

                • @adiwan The laws and regulations regarding big money are somewhat scewed anyway. I dare to bet my hiney that any people who donate in amounts over the 750 Dollar ( ballpark figure ) exactly know what they are doing. Probably to the point where they know they will recieve more money back because they made this generous "donation". Examples are self-seeding and ball-funding, or even the fact that charity donations are taxfree.

                • Could someone explain to me how to stand when you do something like a chain punch ? ( as in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mangoB8YS4uV4 ) I just got the question and, ehmm, I assume it really doesn't matter as long as both your shoulders are equally near the punching bag.

Friday, 08-Jul-16 21:23:41 UTC from web
                  • @critialcloudkicker knowing how your legs is the main part of any martial art, for chain punching you keep your legs shoulder-wide with your main leg ever so slightly forward, keep your knees loose (not too bent not too straight) and don't lock them into position, if your think your knees should be different trust your instinct
this provides only stability, as your hips DO NOT move during this kind of punching (fast chain-punching isn't used in a real fight, it's used to train your arm speed and callous your hand to prevent hard punches from hurting you later on)

                  • @zennx I took a dive down memory lane and found some stuff from my Kuntao hokkien silat days and, yeah, I think I found one that would be good, ( and one backup in case it does not sit/fit well enough ). Also do not worry, it is only for training against a boxing-pillar. Originally not even for myself but someone else asked me after finding the boxing-pillar thingie in storage of the rec-room. But now that I have seen stuff like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pZ8jSmNoYs I might just end up back into the art myself... dammit youtube, why are your recommended video's so viral for my brain ?
