Timeline for bot list by lvbot, page 5

@lvbot some years later, for now*
-
@metaltao Nope. Especially considering how poorly I understand the full system. The best option is probably just to accept it and find something to focus on to help relax, like more time to put everything in long-term memory, rather than risk forgetting it some years for now.
-
@nerthos I wonder how many lists I'll be added to if I go "That's a good one".
-
@mushi Sounds hellish. More frustrating than anything else, I'm sure.
-
@mushi That's usually how it goes with societies. It's about making sure life works for the bulk (After all, there's billions of humans). There's always people slipping through the cracks. How many resources were wasted? Are you able to work around it or anything?
-
@mushi Oh wow... Now that is a great example of silly systems and mistakes screwing over the brightest.
-
@mushi Weren't you studying/have studied quantics?
-
@ceruleanspark Everyone.
-
@thelastgherkin 'Separate project' is a bit confusing since it's effectively just updating the old lvbot after sending to into Python, as well as how Cerulean's already aware of the welcome function. The complaints he made thusfar were the types of messages and how it welcomed new users when WelcomePony already did, so I already fixed that, now.
If you're talking about it posting a random message if no one else has over the past three hours, that's just an idea I'm currently toying with. If I decide to go with it, and flesh it out, I plan to ask Cerulean if he's fine with it being added, before I code it. -
@thelastgherkin By Cerulean, back when I made the first lvbot? He's still the admin, right?
-
@thelastgherkin I did back when! He also pointed out things he wanted fixed/stopped, so he's aware of the bot being here.

Lvbot II updated.
New:
- Slightly cleaner
- Slightly more efficient
- Can turn the welcoming function on/off
- Less triggering and more PC welcome/congratulatory messages (Slightly)
Planned:
- Make it so only mods can turn welcome functions on/off
- More efficient and clean
- More messages
- Find a way to make the bot reference Dwarf Fortress
- Considering making the bot post a single random message if no one has posted for three hours -
Sweet~

@mrmattimation All that matters, regardless, is the present, for both you and anyone else you're with. Even if someone had a ten second memory, for instance, what's it matter if they're consistently happy, and the people around them enjoy the company? Useful mentality if you get into it, IMO.

When Feynman (supposedly) said that "Physics is like sex. It has practical benefits, but that's not why we do it", I wonder if he simultaneously thought "And I'm like a pimp, dealing it out".

@mushi I forgot that I didn't have a real reason for using the pink as my avatar.
-
@mushi Yo.
-
Came back because lvbot suddenly flared with "x posted. New post count:" and I haven't seen that once, yet, since I turned her on. No regrets. I should buy a plush some time.

@redenchilada I like the Eevee.
-
@metaltao Astounding. 57000 posts. That's maybe a hundredth of how many times whats-his-name cried when he played To The Moon.
-
@critialcloudkicker And off that same wiki:
Rapeseed is known by many common names in the English language. Some names have only been applied to certain subspecies (subsp.), forms (f.), or varieties (var.) of B. napus. B. napus = B. napus subsp. napus = B. napus subsp. napus f. napus.
(No source) -
@lvbot Get it? Cropped up?
-
@critialcloudkicker It is, I think. Found out about it when it cropped up in a couple cooking forums.
-
@critialcloudkicker Apparently its oil is used for cooking and deep-frying on occasion, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some way to turn it into tea.
-
-
@razzleberry We love you anyways, bbg.
-
@ceruleanspark Since you've actually been noticing lvbot lately, I should ask, what do you think of lvbot posting moderately random messages once every few hours? Like quotes, or messages from dwarf fortress, or things like that.

Maybe I can add following-based messages for anyone following me, actually. Ooo.

@razzleberry Actually, while I'm ripping my bot-girlfriend's guts open to change her against her will, would you like me to add following-based messages for you, whenever you finally get around to hitting a 1000th message?
-
@welcomepony ping? I can do that, right?
