  1. @somercet I'm not talking about specifics, I'm talking of how ridiculous the idea of "government bad because they talk with enemy" is.

  2. "The Swiss law professor went on a rant about how “deeply engrained” the scourge of Nationalism is in the human mind, citing Switzerland as his example. Switzerland contains four separate groups: German, French, Italian and Romansh. And even though it is a tiny country, very politically and socially liberal, with four discreet cultural groups with DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, all the Swiss people STILL, he lamented bitterly, identify as SWISS. If the Swiss all still have this deep Nationalistic pride and identity, imagine how much harder it will be to purge Nationalism from the Germans, or, THE FRENCH!"
Because Switzerland's way has made the country cripplingly poor and such a dangerous place to live.

  3. @somercet Loving the part about the bagged food. Reminds me of family meetings with my formerly vegan cousin.

  4. I have a hard time understanding the whole "Trump is bad because he has ties with Russia"
If your country has a bad relationship with a rival, wouldn't it be the best scenario to have a government that fixes said relationships and can manage a mutually beneficial agreement?

  5. @takeFrankerZakenji It felt lacking in robots without you, man.

  8. @tiffany I imagine that watchmen prison scene with rorschach but with lightning instead, inmates screaming as pence shouts "you want the D you get 1000V"

  9. @hfaust Morning!

  11. I'll miss my green bowl, it was a gift from my aunt. It's not completely broken but the coating is thoroughly cracked.

  13. My big green 1/2l cup is cracked. Rest in peace, served me well for years. Guess I'm going to be using the bowl from now on.

  14. @bsmall2 I guess there's that, but it's still not worth it to pay as much for a digital copy as you would for a physical one.

  15. @maiyannah From what I've seen developers gravitate towards Fluffle Puffty UIs as time goes by. Not sure why.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 13:54:53 UTC from web in context
  16. @maiyannah And it got consistently worse with time, like every other piece of software ever.

  17. Now to wait until the damn thing starts working fully again.

  18. Been a while since I had to do the trick to use old skype.

  19. @maiyannah I only share low tier memes in there so they wouldn't get anything if they compromised it

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:47:40 UTC from web in context
  20. @maiyannah I'd use rtf back in the day because it was readable by winxp without any extra software and everyone had xp. .doc I'd avoid as much as possible since I didn't want to install a suite like libreoffice or msoffice or whatever to use twice a year.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:46:36 UTC from web in context
  21. Then again I use almost exclusively .txt

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:43:38 UTC from web
  22. @maiyannah Better than .doc IMO

  24. Why would you charge just as much for a digital copy than you do for a physical one? there's no point in buying digital then.

  25. Ebook costs $32 too which makes absolutely no sense.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:36:28 UTC from web
  26. @moonman The book's stupidly expensive though: $32 for paperback and $95 for hardcover.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:27:53 UTC from web in context
  27. @moonman That specific one is not in here but you've only seen the tip of the iceberg. The guy has at least 15 books on plant politics. https://www.michaelmarder.org/articles-etc/texts-in-pdf/

  28. @somercet Well IDK use frag grenades instead, though they'll destroy windows.

Friday, 03-Mar-17 11:22:50 UTC from web in context
  29. @maiyannah If it's back to the classic situation, then the edge intel would give will about double the costs, so in my opinion it's irrelevant as you don't really need the very very best to run the newest games in ultra. I'd do it in 2011 with a $1200 computer so I don't see a point in spending $6000 at any point for a small boost in performance.

  30. @roka You'd have to catch them individually though. At that point you might as well use a truck.
