@ceruleanspark TBS is indeed the network it was on. It was supposed to be part of an original animated block with a Louis C.K. show and J.G. Quintel’s new show. Louis C.K.’s show was cancelled for obvious reasons, Quintel’s is the Half-Life 3 of animated television and no news on it has been released in a while, so Final Space just ended up being part of their usual lineup with the other remaining animated show on the block.

Until today I was unconvinced that traditional animation would be viable in a Netflix show. Not only has Disenchantment proven me wrong, it surpasses Futurama in visual quality.

@mrmattimation I do love the 2.5D backgrounds although I have found some parts of the character animation a bit stiff (mainly the premiere)

@tiff The characters move around a lot more than Futurama at least, and there’s usually more frames when they do too (but not always—first couple of episodes in particular were kinda typical of a Rough Draft-produced animation), plus a bunch of it is on ones. I adored the backgrounds, too, I think painted textures and shading on the CGI as opposed to flat colors and cel shading was a nice touch.

@tiff And, honestly, I still find modern Simpsons regularly better than much else in modern mainstream non-kiddie animation, anyway. (The kid's stuff has been stepping up, though)

@scribus I've always tried not to sound like the people who say new Simpsons sucks just because they hear other people say it, but at the same time I find the new seasons' approach of "pick a random celebrity and three random nouns and that's our plot" very tasteles
