why do katanas have wrist guards?
it makes no sense, you have a sword that was built to slash, not to cleave or pierce
and you give it a wrist guard, a tiny one at it
katanas are meant, when used defensively, to deflect by taping the oponent's blade on the side, sending it off-target.
you can't block a katana with a katana's wrist guard, the blade is too long, so if you block the weak with your wrist the hit wasn't going to connect anyway, and if you block the strong the weak will already be inside you

@mrmattimation It's easy to do when one speaks in generalities.
-
@colfax All generalities are terrible without exception!
-
@nerthos Drumpf has his fair share of violent supporters. Furthermore, at this point, there isn't any fundamental difference between those most likely to win their respective nominations. The Titanic has already hit the iceberg, and the main difference is that Captain Clinton would blame the ship's sinking on firearms, while Captain Drumpf would blame in on Mexicans and Muslims.

QUESTION: Is it legal for me, as a video maker guy, to paint toy guns so they look like real guns, or do I need a license for that?
Tuesday, 26-Apr-16 22:12:35 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation In the Netherlands you are pretty much allowed to do what you want to do, as long as there are at least 2 of the 3 parts bright-alarm-orange. "Muzzle" "slide" "magazine, clip, or feeding mechanism". Also the muzzle should be comically sized... Pretty sure those laws are pretty much universally the same in the western world.
-
@mrmattimation I was at a costume shop in LA that rented prop guns. They had a sign that said something about needing a license or some kind of proof of legitimate film making or the like in order to rent one. No idea about making your own, though.
-
@mrmattimation Every person that plays airsoft ever does this and never has issue. Unless they are doing something stupid with the guns -.-

Not to mention the "Greater Evil" occasionally getting back into office.

It would be far more productive for Sanders to run as an Independent and continue building up the movement he has unleashed. That would have the potential to revive the labor movement in the United States, even if he didn't win the 2016 election.
Friday, 22-Apr-16 02:26:55 UTC from web-
@m14brony If Hillary wins this year and Sanders runs against her for democratic nomination in 2020 (which is normally unheard of) I think he'll have a better chance.
-
@mrmattimation Sanders would be paralyzed by a hostile Democratic Party (a party of the "one percent") if he won in 2016 or 2020. The result of supporting the Democrats as a "lesser evil" has resulted in the decimation of the unions (25 states are "Right to Work") and a continuation of right-wing austerity policies.

@mrmattimation Which is a lot like the Hillary train. The difference being that the scapegoat is Hispanics instead of firearms.

Has anyone here heard of the Party Party?

@scribus I initially misread that as Panty Party. :P

@thelastgherkin Haunting.

I URGE any Sanders supporting Americans on RDN who are of voting age to NOT turn to Trump in anger should Clinton get the nomination. If the election ends up being Trump vs. Clinton - which is the more likely outcome, at this point - vote Clinton. I get it, the system is broken and you're papayaed off. But if you vote for Trump simply because he's like Bernie and he's not a part of that system, you're raging against the wrong machine.
Wednesday, 20-Apr-16 02:36:28 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation Both of them will uphold the status quo that benefits a small, opulent oligarchy. Donald Trump, being a right-wing demagogue and crass opportunist, most likely doesn't believe 98% of the stuff he is saying to the electorate.
-
@m14brony Is that a risk you really want to take?
-
@mrmattimation Trump has a history of "flip-flopping," which is made evident by his support of universal healthcare and a ban on "assault weapons" in the past. He also hired immigrants and relied on Chinese labor to produce goods. Trump's brash show of confidence plays on the fears and frustrations of ordinary people fed up with both the Democrats and traditional Republicans. But being a wealthy oligarch, like Hillary, he would work to defend the interests of wealthy oligarchs. It isn't feasible to make Mexico pay for a Berlin Wall or to round up 11 million illegal migrants.
Even if Trump somehow endangered the interests of the capitalist class as a whole, they would find a way to remove him from power.
