  1. @adiwan I guess I don't really know that a major amount have been using religion specifically, but it just seems common in a lot of science denial.

  2. "God said nothing bad will happen to me. But, He also told me that if a bad thing happens, it's all my fault..." Tell you what, either someone wrote it down wrong, or this deity is an abuser. I heavily doubt an all-powerful deity would be abusive (and still have us around to gripe about it after hundreds of generations). Therefore, I'm pretty sure the books aren't quite accurate... Maybe, just maybe, we were given this brain and these reasoning skills to, you know, USE THEM!?

  3. @adiwan I've usually been a bit cavalier about new diseases, too, aside from standard flu-season hygiene. I was on team "don't wear a mask if you aren't sick, we need them for front line workers" until the new science came out. And I, too, do not understand people who take the advice of a group of uneducated desert monks who've been dead for two thousand years and their demigod fanfiction over modern science and medicine.

  11. @adiwan Curious, do you have establishments that might be more of a "barber shop" situation? Like, in the USA, there's sort of a "barber for men, salon for women" thing going on. I kind of like the idea of just a neutral "haircut place."

  14. @adiwan It's not especially pronounced. I've seen some that were gnarly, like you need peripheral engaged to see anything, but this isn't too bad. I think I'm more tripped out by how wide it is, coming off of the laptop life. :p

  18. And now I get the ~joy~ of asking tech support why basic interface functions (like an icon on the desktop when a drive mounts) that Windows used to do (and Mac and *NIX still do) are not a thing anymore!

  19. @adiwan Eh, I wanted a hassle-free shopping experience, resulting in me owning a future-expandable desktop computer. Indifferent as to pre-built or DIY, except for reasons I need a Windows license so

  20. Well, the line for my online order is so long that I may not be getting a new computer after all

  29. Tried buying a new computer today. Placed an online order for in-store pickup. By the time my order is ready, all that's left is the monitor. I have until Monday to pick it up, though! So, second stab at ordering a computer, then I pick 'em both up at once! It's about twice what I wanted to pay, but also twice as much computron as I necessarily WANTED, so it isn't like I'm being SCREWED - just forcibly upgraded. And I'd planned on upgrading eventually, anyway, so I'm saving time! And if time==money, well then... :^]
