I found a cool post from @nerthos about how to summon me but I already redashed it and that specific reason is why I left 3 years ago.

@narwhal I didn't decode these, but let me guess:

@ceruleanspark More or less, yeah. I also mentioned how in terms of game design you, ironically, do less killing in Conquest than in Birthright (the ostensible route of peace loving and kind people).

I hate pears so much
Saturday, 21-May-16 21:10:51 UTC from web -
To be honest the only fruit I look forward to is pomegranate otherwise I don't really go out of my way to buy anything, it's more like I see it at the grocery and think "hmm, that looks good".

@awl I will agree with you that pomegranates are great

Pop Figures SUCK
Saturday, 21-May-16 20:14:27 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin I think they're very ugly and cheap, although I get why people like them so much.
-
@narwhal Pop Figures suck!!!!!
-
-
is liking pop vinyls a bad thing yet
Saturday, 21-May-16 13:16:56 UTC from web-
@razzleberry I can understand that. Whether their cheapness is necessarily a bad thing in a larger picture perspective is certainly up for debate, but in my case as someone who generally prefers (but can hardly if ever afford) more pricey figures, Pop Figures just leave something to be desired for me. They're effectively the McDonald's of figures, and they serve their purpose well enough in that regard, but it's for that same reason that I don't like them. As a sidenote, I don't really like the way they look either. They're not expressive enough to really come off as endearingly cute as give the impression to me of just being kinda stumpy-looking.
-
@narwhal oh at the end of the day I would always rather save up for a nicer, pricier figure, I just think some of the Pop figures are kinda charming in their own way and I don't really have any issue with them.
-
@razzleberry I can respect that. There's certainly a market and appeal for Pop Figures which I can't deny.

I complain a lot about how sterile and flat and stiff modern animation is, especially shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy and Steven Universe, but even today The Simpsons manages to give its characters some interesting poses. This is from around 2009. http://rainbowdash.net/url/843445
Tuesday, 17-May-16 02:24:52 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation In fairness, as reductive as me saying this is, lots of modern animation simply also doesn't have the budget lots of classic animated works did.
-
@narwhal Well, you also have to consider how much cheaper animation is to produce today. What was previously done with pencils, cels, film, ink, and paint is now done with Wacom tablets, ToonBoom, Photoshop, and computers straight off of the shelf at the closest Apple Store.
-
@mrmattimation Ah yeah, this is also a very salient point
-
-
Oof, Apple, maybe put an extra space in there. http://rainbowdash.net/url/843416
Monday, 16-May-16 23:26:55 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation I think in this case you should upgrade at your own risk anyway, caveat emptor and all that jazz.
-
@narwhal Well it's probably gonna COME WITH the newest OS anyway so there's not much of a decision to be made there. Still not sure if I'm gonna buy a MacBook though, need to figure out what my teachers are gonna expect of me in terms of software. If I can get away with using decade-old versions of Flash, I'm already set.
-
@mrmattimation I guess in that case it will depend on those circumstances. If you do end up getting a Mac, I hope it works out well for you!

Is it just me, or is TV thriving as a medium while it dies as an appliance?
- Narwhal and MetalTao like this.
-
@scribus nope that is very true a majority of people have been killing off TV for a long time because of force ads etc.
-
@scribus This is the most apt description I've seen of the state of television. We're in a golden age of television that people seldom watch on television through traditional means. Television has evolved past network necessitiy, whilst episodic structure remains vestigally.
-
@narwhal I was just setting up my tablet on my bed for some cartoons while smartphoning and thinking about in BTTF when they were in awe of a house with TWO TVs! and now it's like "why have more than one cherryen one?"

Friday, 13-May-16 00:33:05 UTC from web-
@narwhal Yeah, the early mornings are still quite crisp here, and the days have been rather windy, but all in all I think it's worth it. Just slip on some flannel and it's all good.
-
@awl In my case it's just a matter of waking up and leaving early enough to get to my destination on time, although the mornings here are still a bit brisk so I'd likely don a light jacket I could potentially store away in my backpack come the afternoon
-
@narwhal Oh I get that. To get to school instead of the highway, which would take me like 15 minutes, to cycle there I have to take a parkway and some side streets that's about thrice as long. I've been no stranger to early mornings for at least a year now, though, so, eh
